The Proxy Scam: The Bait-and-Switch Consultation Model

Published: May 2026 | Category: Consumer Fraud Investigation

The cornerstone of the Lunar Astro business model is its premium consultation service. Marketed heavily on the back of founder Deepanshu Giri's YouTube persona and claimed "7-generation lineage," consumers are driven to pay premium fees ranging from ₹5,000 to ₹50,000.

The Expectation vs. Reality

Consumers book these consultations expecting the direct expertise of Deepanshu Giri. However, independent audits and aggregated consumer feedback reveal a systemic bait-and-switch operation.

The "Code" System: After paying and waiting for weeks, clients are secretly routed to anonymous junior students operating under proxy codes (e.g., "Code 5007"). Clients are paying expert prices for amateur readings.

The "Pending Karma" Upsell Trap

The proxy consultations serve a secondary, more predatory purpose. Multiple victims report that these junior astrologers focus heavily on negative, fear-inducing predictions. They blame the client's real-life struggles (divorce, job loss, health issues) on "ancestral curses" or "pending karma."

The proposed solution is rarely a simple remedy. Instead, clients are subjected to high-pressure sales tactics to enroll in Lunar Astro's premium predictive astrology courses, which can cost upwards of ₹2 Lakhs, to "fix" their karma.

Consumer Recourse

If you have been a victim of this proxy scam, do not engage with their customer service, as they are known to use intimidation tactics. Instead, contact your bank immediately to initiate a Chargeback for "Services Not Provided as Advertised."
